Happy 7 Billion Day/Halloween! Are you scared?
Video Game Theatre: “an interactive theatre experience played as a tribute to the games we all grew up with.”
Created by Aaron Willoughby, a grad student at Virginia Commonwealth, “who wished to mix the power of theatre and the interest of video games.”
Looks pretty cool. You can also read Aaron’s thesis on this project for a more detailed look at his fusion of games and the stage.
I can tell Video Game Theatre has promise because “theatre” is spelled with the “r” before “e,” as it should be.

A Short Visual History of Videogames
— A nice overview of the basics of console history.(via Gamepad via Ultra Awesome, who has some other cool, original gaming-inspired artwork)
Daft Punk - Around The World - NES style
I normally don’t feel 8-bit arrangements accurately reflect NES music, but this one really impresses me. Plus, it’s Daft Punk, so it’s hard to mess up the electronic feel.

MORTAL WOMBAT!!
I normally do not employ hyperbole, but this is the most perfect video ever! I yell “MORTAL WOMBAT!!” randomly (you should too, it’s fun!) so I couldn’t stop laughing at this. The wombat caricatures introduce impeccable pacing and an impressive rhythm to accompany the music. Kano is my favorite!

Awesome: Trailers of action movies from Embassy Pictures circa 1983.
Includes: Escape From New York, The Howling, The Fog, An Eye for an Eye, Road Games, Vice Squad, and Codename: The Soldier.
Jackie Davis - Mañana (Is Soon Enough For Me)
This is my new ringtone. You may know it as the sausage making song from Seinfeld.
I liked this talk, but Robert Jewett, the speaker, was a bit hard on super heroes if you ask me. You may have to turn the volume up because the audio quality isn’t spectacular.
Alan Riddle and I made this Sopranos parody video for a hypothetical St. Bonaventure University alumni network in our advertising class. If you’re a Bona alum you should love this—otherwise, well, take in the scenery of downtown Allegany, NY.
This video was hilarious to shoot. My favorite shot is the pull back from the rear view mirror as he lights the cigar. I’d also like to say we hired the convoy of bikers to lead us through the village, but, as with most of the video, it was simply luck.
It took us two days to shoot and one to edit. The first half of the video is from day one and the second half from day two. You can’t tell unless you watch multiple times (please do) but in the second shoot Alan wears a different shirt and rain is on the windshield when he pulls up to the chapel.
How do you like our SBU/Sopranos parody? Leave a comment.
